Who is this Book For?
This book is a partial rewrite of the book released for 3ds Max 8 Architectural Visualization, published by Friends of ED in April 2006. This time around, I’ve decided to publish it directly through my 3D training company 3DATS, which gives me far greater control and flexibility over the design and style. Unlike the first book, this edition is printed in full color, which makes illustrations far easier to understand, and this time around I have used far more architectural based models in the illustrations.
This book is written primarily for beginners and students and is designed to take readers to an intermediate level. I have made every attempt to simplify the program and break it down to the most simple and easy to understand language, and whenever possible, I have included personal experiences to provide relevancy to the features being discussed. It is a fairly comprehensive book which I believe covers everything a beginner or student needs to know, to land a job with a visualization company. The companion to this book, 3ds Max 2008 - Intermediate to Advanced, is designed to take intermediate level users to the advanced level, not by teaching more advanced features but rather by teaching practical application and time-saving techniques of the tools covered in this book. These techniques are the combined result of many years of trial and error by me and many of the peers with whom I share tips and tricks.
